* You are entering a "quiet zone" so please keep the talking to a minimum.
* Remove your shoes & place in appropriate cubbies located near each studio - NEVER walk into the studio (practice rooms) with shoes on.
* Leave your cell phone in your car. If you do bring it into the studio, turn it to "off" or "silent" & leave it in the cubbies with your personal items. If there is a special situation (such as a doctor on call) please discuss with the teacher and phone must be on silent.
* Come to practice with an empty stomach - it is best to not eat for up to 2 hours before practicing.
* Be early to class. It is a good opportunity to sit quietly and prepare for your class. Entering class constantly late is very disruptive and disrespectful to all. If you arrive a few minutes late, take a deep breath, quietly enter the studio, sit down just inside the door and wait for the begining of the asanas (postures) BEFORE finding your space and putting down your mat. It disrupts the energy when we are chanting or sitting quietly.
* Wear comfortable exercise clothing. Keep in mind that we are up-side down a lot so you don't want anything too loose that will get in the way of your practice.
* Do your best to not wear perfumes, especially in HOT classes.
* Keep your personal items in front of or behind your yoga mat during busy classes and be aware of the other students space around you. Help the teacher by making the rows even and easy to maneuver around during class.
* Please wipe up any sweat or liquid on the floor after your practice. Our eco-friendly cork floors do not like to hold water!
* If you have a health issue (illness, injury, or medical condition), please notify your instructor before class so they can guide and direct you with suggestions and modifications.
* Don’t expect instant results. To reap significant health benefits requires consistent practice and dedication. Most students practice 4-6 times per week.
* Your health is your responsibility! Do not force your body. Be patient and move into your poses with care and precision. You are your own best teacher!!!
* Enjoy your practice. People who enjoy their practice get the best gains. The emotion of enjoyment puts the mind and body into a positive state. Don’t try to outdo anyone. What happens on your mat, stays on your mat!
* It is okay to come out of a pose before the teacher says to. Yoga is not “gutting it out” or “no pain, no gain.” To the contrary, the body will respond beautifully when you show it kindness, acceptance and love. Do what you can, with what you have, with where you are.
* Stay for the entire class. If you need to leave early, tell the teacher beforehand and exit before final relaxation (shavasana).
* Most classes finish with the gesture and saying Namaste. This means: The Divine in Me bows to the Divine in You.
